Hello. I’m Sarah and this website tells the story of me and my horse JJ.
Drombane Johnjoe (JJ) was brought up in a village called Drombane in Tipperary and given the stable name Johnjoe. He lived at Michael Ryan’s yard in Drombane until he was 5 when he came to England and first lived in Surrey for a year before I had the honour of having him. We became partners on 30th June 2008 and are completely besotted with each other (he wouldn’t dare say he wasn’t obsessed with me too :-D).
I am starting this website in 2013 so I have nearly 5 years of information to write about and lots of events to recall but using my wonderful Mac putting the website together should be fairly easy.
What I will get out of it is simple, a wonderful diary of my life with JJ. What I hope you get out of it is some useful information to support you with your own equine partnership, even if it is just to read this and have an overwhelming desire to give your horse another kiss!
Dolly and I hope you enjoy it and can be contacted by email at sarah@dollyjj.co.uk
There is loads more to come, so please check back to see what is new once in a while.
(For those who are wondering, the photograph top right is JJ yawning whilst I have a beer at the pub).

Bedgebury Camp June 2011

A weekend of rain didn’t dampen our spirits and this was the first camp JJ and I had ever done. Two years later we have got the bug!

We did some flat work on the first lesson then jumping in the afternoon, followed by pole work in the morning of day two and more SJ fences in the afternoon.

Day three we headed off to do some cross country training.

Being away from home doesn’t bother JJ and he behaved impeccably the whole time, I couldn’t have asked for more.

Looking back, it amazes me how far we have come. We may not be jumping 3’ fences or courses but the timid, nervous, worried JJ has come a long long way.

A lovely hack

It's been hot hot hot!

Today we had a lovely hack with Malone, through the woods up the lane and down the bridle path to Mace field. The flies left us alone and apart from the canter through the field we were sheltered from the heat of the sun. A lovely hack and now JJ is back in his stable contemplating eating the rest of his feed. Unusually he left some after we came home but hopefully it's just because he wants a rest as he didn't get his afternoon nap.

Windsor 2012

A lovely ride with the lovely Lauren and her boy Ben. The weather and ground were perfect and the horses were incredible. This ride proved how far JJ and I have come. 4/500 rutting deer didn’t put him off either although I can’t say he wasn’t a little worried!

JJ led the gallop on this ride and happily put fences together and jumped with gusto.

A truly fabulous day.
